The CEMES Unit takes charge of the global management of mechanical projects. In addition to engineering, we have developed specific maintenance skills to meet our customers’ requirements which encompass much more than just equipment commissioning.

We are capable to provide technical support for equipment which has been designed by our teams.

"Telecommunications"

Our engineers provide engineering, structure calculation and mechanical engineering of telecommunication aerials and radio telescopes (aseismic behaviour, climatic resistance, wind, snow.. – thermic resistance.) During the equipment maintenance phases, structure and mechanisms evolution is followed up by a topographical control of the entire geometry.

"Nuclear sector"

When the experimental reactors Orphée and Osiris of the CEA (French Atomic Energy Authority) at Saclay were built, our teams were involved in the construction of the essential parts of these installations including reactor block, thimbles, handling and safety equipment.

After some years operation, our teams participated in maintenance programmes by refurbishing or completely overhauling some parts of installations.

"Scientific sector"

With nuclear testing on Mururoa Atoll coming to an end, France has instigated a simulation programme enabling the conditions of nuclear fusion to be recreated within a laboratory environment and to acquire relevant equipment. The Laser Megajoules Programme (LMJ) consists of 240 lasers producing 1,8 mega joule power within 16 nanoseconds, focussed on a vacuum target.

CEMES has been awarded the manufacture of automated handling equipment which will be working in clean room conditions to be implemented for original equipment and replacement of optomechanical components of laser lines. Our teams ensure the commissioning of these tools implemented for operational assistance and maintenance and which will be subsequently re-used for preventive or corrective actions.
